子曰‘賢哉、回也、一簞食、一瓢飲、在陋巷、人不堪其憂、回也不改其樂。賢哉、回也’

原文 131

The happiness of Hûi independent of his poverty.
The Master said, "Admirable indeed was the virtue of Hûi! With a single bamboo dish of rice, a single gourd dish of drink, and living in his mean narrow lane, while others could not have endured the distress, he did not allow his joy to be affected by it. Admirable indeed was the virtue of Hûi!"

Legge VI.9.

The Master said, 'How admirable Hui is! Living in a mean dwelling on a bowlful of rice and a ladleful of water is a hardship most men would find insupportable, but Hui does not allow this to affect his joy. How admirable Hui is!'

Le Maître dit : « Que la sagesse de Ien Houei était grande ! Il demeurait dans une misérable ruelle, n'ayant qu'une écuelle de riz et une gourde de boisson. Un autre, en se voyant si dépourvu, aurait eu un chagrin intolérable. Houei était toujours content. Oh ! que Houei était sage ! »
