Teachers must be guided in communicating knowledge by the susceptivity of the learners.
The Master said, "To those whose talents are above mediocrity, the highest subjects may be announced. To those who are below mediocrity, the highest subjects may not be announced."
Legge VI.19.
The Master said, 'You can tell those who are above average about the best, but not those who are below average.'

Le Maître dit : « Qui s'élève au-dessus de la moyenne peut entendre des enseignements élevés. Qui reste en dessous de la moyenne n'en est pas capable. »
